Course overview
Course description
This 4-week course will give you a great introduction to working with clay. Find out what materials and tools are most useful and how to use them safely. Learn some basic design strategies and places to look for inspiration. Try out different methods of creating pots, from thumb pots to using moulds. Experiment by adding surface pattern, texture, and decoration. Don’t worry if you are new to ceramics or art, as our experienced tutor will guide you step by step through the different processes. Overall, you will complete the class with a least one finished ceramic pot to take away and the basic skills to continue to create at home, or progress onto a more in-depth course to further your skills and experience. Meet like-minded learners in a supportive, creative environment.
The course will take place in venue and basic materials and equipment will be provided. You are welcome to bring additional materials if you wish. The course is free to participants living within the Coalfields Regeneration Trust Area (local to Easington Community Access Point).
