Foundations in the Creative Arts enables you to explore creativity in a relaxed, supportive space. Creative Arts is an umbrella term covering a range of activities and themes such as practical art, drawing and painting, mosaics, sewing and craft, and creative writing. No previous experience is needed, making the set course ideal as a first step back into learning. The course supports health and wellbeing by encouraging relaxation, mindfulness through making, and time to focus on enjoyable creative activities. You will build confidence, reduce stress, and develop a sense of achievement while connecting with others in a positive, social environment. Sessions focus on simple techniques, sharing ideas, and enjoying the creative process rather than perfection. By the end of the course, you will have created a small personal project and have gained inspiration to continue creative activities at home or move on to other community or skills based courses.

English for Learning and Life is a pre‑entry course designed to help learners build the early language, confidence and study skills needed for everyday life in the UK and for progression to the Get Ready for ESOL course. Learners develop essential skills such as recognising familiar words, understanding simple classroom language, and using basic English to communicate needs in routine situations. The course introduces simple reading and writing tasks, supports learners to build confidence in group activities and helps them develop early learning habits. It provides a supportive first step for learners who are new to English or new to learning.

It will help you learn basic English to study, work, and live in the UK. This ESOL reading course helps people who are just starting to learn English. It will help you gain confidence reading short texts and common words in English. There are also writing and speaking & listening courses at this level. If you’re helping others access ESOL classes in the UK, you’ve come to the right place. What we’ll cover: - Learn to identify common English words in everyday situations. - Understand signs, symbols and texts you will come across. - Read information about timetables, prices, and schedules. - Understand the purpose of different texts, including adverts, posters, and news articles. - Understand how punctuation is used to help you read more easily.

This course is for adults who already know some basic English and want to improve their communication skills for everyday life in the UK. You will learn to understand short explanations, follow multistep instructions, ask for clarification, and take part in conversations on familiar topics. You will also practise expressing opinions and giving simple reasons in a supportive classroom environment. Entry 2 courses in Reading and Writing are also available if you want to continue developing your English skills.

Take your writing skills to the next level with these ESOL classes. Improve your written English and feel more confident in a variety of everyday situations. This ESOL writing course can teach you important skills to study or write good CVs and job applications. This ESOL entry 3 writing course builds on skills you learnt at entry 2. Expand your understanding of how to create well-structured texts and polish your spelling and grammar. This is an English course for adults. It is aimed at speakers of other languages. This course is funded by the East Midlands Combined County Authority and is only available to residents living within the East Midlands Combined County Authority area. Practical English Skills (Entry 2) helps learners develop more confident English for everyday communication at home, in the community and in simple work‑related situations. The course builds on Entry 1 skills and introduces longer conversations, short texts and straightforward writing tasks. Learners practise giving information, asking questions, understanding short explanations and reading everyday materials such as notes, messages, leaflets and timetables. Activities focus on real‑life situations including making arrangements, asking for help, following instructions and talking about daily routines. The course supports learners to communicate with greater independence and prepares them for progression to Entry 3 ESOL.

This course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority and is only available to residents living within the West Midlands Combined Authority area. First Steps in ESOL introduces learners to the foundations of English needed for early communication in everyday situations. The course focuses on building confidence with essential vocabulary, recognising key sounds, and understanding simple spoken instructions. Learners practise using single words and short phrases to share basic personal information and take part in highly supported classroom activities. Visuals, repetition and practical tasks help learners understand meaning and develop early listening and speaking skills. The course prepares learners for further learning by building confidence, routine and familiarity with classroom language before progressing to Entry 1 ESOL.
