ESOL for Life in the UK Test Preparation (Woodnook)

This course is designed to help prepare foreign learners for their Life in the UK test. The course will help ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) to start to learn the vocabulary needed and skills needed for the Life in the UK test. The course is a first step in teaching them about what to be expected on the test and what they need to revise for when they plan to take the test later on. The course has a minimum ESOL requirement to join the course as learners need to be of an intermediate level in order to be able to understand and join in the course fully. The course will introduce you to all aspects of the UK in order to try and pass the UK Citizenship test. You will learn and discuss different laws, UK history, culture and social aspects of what is expected of typical UK citizens in everyday life. Our course is friendly and supportive. Performing Arts & Dance: Let's All Go to the Music Hall

This Day School will explore the world of music hall. It will cover a history of the genre which began in the nineteenth century and will use both live performance and archive material to illustrate important themes. Particular reference will be made to the Player's Theatre in London which keeps the art form of music hall alive to this day. The tutor is an experienced music hall performer and as well as discussing the history will be performing musical interludes live. There will also be an opportunity for students to learn and perform famous music hall songs for themselves.

Creative Writing: Writing Love

If you’ve promised yourself one day you’ll start writing, these are the classes for you! This creative writing workshops spotlights on the much-written theme of love. From romantic love to family love, from love of a place or a home of long ago to the love of a pet or a ritual, we’ll learn from authors who have portrayed love in all its form – obsessive love, had and had to let go of love and soul-mate love. This workshop consists of a blend of activities: writing exercises to practice your craft; close reading of extracts from published inspirational writers and teaching points on creative writing techniques.
