You will have the chance to practise answering simple interview questions, helping you feel more confident talking about yourself in a positive way. By the end of the course, you will leave with a clearer CV, increased confidence, and practical knowledge to help you move closer to employment or further training.

This Conversation with Baking course supports pre‑entry ESOL learners to build confidence in speaking and listening through fun, practical baking activities. Each session introduces simple vocabulary, short instructions and everyday conversation linked to baking, ingredients and kitchen routines. Learners work together to prepare easy bakes, share ideas and practise language in a relaxed, supportive environment. The course promotes wellbeing by encouraging social interaction, creativity and enjoyment while developing essential communication skills. No previous experience is needed. The course focuses on simple, practical activities that help you build confidence while developing useful gardening skills. During the course, you will explore the basics of gardening and learn how plants grow. You will take part in hands-on activities such as planting seeds, caring for plants, watering, and preparing soil. You will also be introduced to different types of plants, including flowers, herbs, and vegetables that you can grow at home or in small spaces. You will learn about common gardening tools and how to use them safely. The course also explores how gardening connects to caring for the environment, including simple ideas for growing sustainably and supporting nature. Sessions are practical, friendly, and designed to support you step by step. You will have the opportunity to work with others, share ideas, and enjoy spending time outdoors. During the course, you will learn what a CV is and why it is important when looking for work or volunteering. You will look at the different parts of a CV, such as your personal details, skills, work and/or volunteering experience. You will think about your own strengths and the things you are good at. You will practise writing short sentences about yourself and your experience. The course will also help you understand what employers want to see on a CV and how to present your information clearly. By the end of the course, you will have created your own CV that you can use when applying for jobs, courses, or volunteering opportunities. You will also feel more confident talking about your skills and experience.

Across the interactive units, you will develop essential skills for work and life, including communication, teamwork, resilience, and professional etiquette. Activities include storytelling, vision boards, group challenges, wellbeing planning, and mock interviews. You will also explore equality and diversity, health and safety and strategies for managing stress. The course concludes with creating a personalised progression plan to support your next steps. You will feel more confident, informed, and ready for the working environment.

ESOL entry 3 courses build on skills you learnt at entry 2. Gain confidence speaking in new and familiar situations and learn tools for effective communication. This is an English course for adults. It is aimed at speakers of other languages. ESOL classes are divided into three areas: reading, writing, and speaking & listening. WEA’s Functional Skills Maths Entry Level 3 course supports learners in developing the practical numeracy skills needed for everyday life, work, and further learning. Building on Entry Level 1 and 2, this course strengthens confidence in using numbers to solve real-life problems. Learners will work with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, measures, and simple data in familiar contexts such as budgeting, shopping, and interpreting information. Teaching is tailored to individual needs through initial and diagnostic assessments, ensuring learners receive targeted support and clear progression goals. By the end of the course, learners will feel more confident applying maths in everyday situations and ready for the Functional Skills assessment. You will complete a BKSB initial assessment to check if the course is suitable. At the end of the course, you will take a final exam to complete the qualification.
