Course overview

Are you interested in working with animals? Join this SWAP course to learn about a range of animal related jobs. You will consider positive and challenging aspects of the roles and ways into these careers. In addition, we will also be looking at basic care needs of pets such as dogs and cats. You will be working with your fellow learners to enhance your confidence and knowledge. There will be plenty of opportunity in the course to share your ideas.

Course description

This course will help you to find out more about animal related work. We will consider a range of different roles from dog groomer to zoo keeper. You will learn about some freelance opportunities and will be encouraged to share your own ideas with your fellow learners. We will consider positive and challenging aspects of working with animals. A focus of the course is on developing your knowledge of the basic care needs of dogs, cats, rabbits, horses and aquarium fish. Throughout the course, you will discuss ideas in small groups with tutor support. A veterinary nurse will hold a Q&A session enabling you to learn from a practitioner. Completion of the course should enable you to approach job interviews related to working with animals with increased confidence.
