Get ready courses help you learn maths at your own pace. This course gives you extra study time to acquire the knowledge you’ll need for entry 2 maths. This is an introductory maths course for people who are looking to progress to entry 2 functional skills courses. It is a non-accredited adult maths course.

Course description

What we’ll cover

  • Develop your understanding of numbers, including odd and even numbers, decimals, fractions, and three digit numbers.

  • Learn addition and subtraction using whole numbers up to 20.

  • Recognise and be able to express money and time in the correct units.

  • Gain basic understanding of 2-D and 3-D shapes and be able to describe position and direction.

  • Read and interpret data in tables, lists, diagrams, and bar charts.

This is a preparation course for the functional skills maths entry 2 qualification. It is not an accredited course.

The aim of this programme is to help you start your functional maths course with the prior knowledge you’ll need.

This maths course is for adults. It aims to help you develop basic numeracy skills at your own pace.

Before you can enrol on this course, you’ll do a skills check. Don’t worry, this isn’t an exam. It’s for us to make sure you get on the right course for your level. Our friendly team will contact you to start your skills check as part of your booking.

When you complete this introductory course, you will be ready to take the functional skills entry 2 course in maths.

There are “get ready” courses between every level to help you succeed at the next step.

What to expect

This preparation course for functional skills in maths takes around 40 hours to complete. It gives you more opportunities to learn the numeracy skills required for an entry 2 functional skills course.

Please note that you’ll need an internet connection to study this maths course. This is so you can access our digital learning platform, Canvas.
