Across three practical sessions, learners explore how to store, handle and prepare food correctly, reduce the risk of illness, and create healthy, age‑appropriate meals. The course covers kitchen hygiene, safe cooking temperatures, avoiding cross‑contamination, understanding allergies, and adapting food for different ages and needs. Through demonstrations, discussion and hands‑on activities, learners build confidence in preparing safe, nutritious meals that support children’s health and wellbeing.

Conversating with Crafting is a 12 session course designed to help adult ESOL learners build confidence in speaking and listening while enjoying a range of simple, creative craft activities. Taught over 24 guided learning hours, the course offers a fun, low pressure way for learners to return to the classroom, practise everyday English and develop practical craft skills. Each session combines conversation, creativity and wellbeing, giving learners the chance to talk about materials, techniques and ideas while working on accessible craft projects. The focus is on communication, confidence building and enjoying the social, calming benefits of creative activity.

Learn how to improve your writing skills in English and get the most out of living in the UK. This ESOL level 1 writing course builds on skills you learnt at entry 3. Understand how to write well-structured texts and use sophisticated vocabulary. This is an English course for adults. It is aimed at speakers of other languages. Conversation with Cooking is a 12 session ESOL course designed to build confidence, wellbeing and communication skills through the theme of everyday cooking. Each two hour class focuses on speaking and listening activities where learners share cooking advice, explore healthy recipes and talk about food from different cultures. Learners practise useful vocabulary, follow simple instructions and take part in supportive conversations about ingredients, meal preparation and healthy eating. The course promotes social connection, confidence building and positive wellbeing by encouraging learners to share experiences, learn new dishes and enjoy communicating in English in a relaxed, friendly environment.

You will start by learning how to search the internet effectively so you can find local services and useful information. You will then explore how to stay safe online by creating strong passwords and recognising common scams. Finally, you will practise using simple digital forms and everyday apps to complete tasks such as filling in an online registration or using map tools to find your way. By the end of the course, you will feel more capable using digital tools in daily life.

This practical course helps you build essential digital skills for everyday life and work. You will gain confidence in using laptops and other digital devices, keeping devices updated, and applying basic security settings. You will also learn to create and manage documents using Word, access Microsoft 365, download apps safely and set up and use email effectively. The course also covers browsers, websites, and online safety, including recognising scams and protecting passwords. Finally, you will explore secure online transactions and payment methods, ensuring you can navigate the digital world safely and independently.

This course is funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and is only available to residents living within the West Yorkshire Combined Authority area Get Ready for ESOL is a pre‑entry course for adults who are at the very beginning of their English language journey. This 24‑hour course helps you build the essential skills you need before joining an accredited Entry 1 ESOL qualification. You will learn to take part in short conversations, understand simple spoken information, read everyday words and signs, and write basic words and phrases. You will also develop strategies to ask for repetition or clarification when you do not understand. This course provides a supportive introduction to English and prepares you for further ESOL study.
