Course overview

This course is funded by the Department for Education and only open to residents living in non devolved authorities.  In this course, you will develop practical digital skills that help you feel more confident in a digital world. You will start by learning how to search the internet effectively so you can find local services and useful information. You will then explore how to stay safe online by creating strong passwords and recognising common scams. Finally, you will practise using simple digital forms and everyday apps to complete tasks such as filling in an online registration or using map tools to find your way. By the end of the course, you will feel more capable using digital tools in daily life.

Course description

This practical course is designed to help you feel more confident using your smartphone, tablet or laptop for the everyday things that matter to you. Throughout the sessions, you will learn how to search the internet safely and effectively so you can find reliable local information, support services and answers to questions that are important in your daily life. You will discover how to create strong passwords, recognise unsafe websites and protect your personal details, giving you the confidence to stay safe online.

You will also explore useful digital tools and apps that can make everyday tasks easier. Whether you want to book an appointment, check travel information, stay in touch with family and friends, or simply follow your own interests, you will learn the basic skills you need to do these things independently.

What financial support is available?

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.
