Course description

On this course we shall share a virtual visit to a small Mill Town in West Yorkshire, and the nearby historic woodland with its own industrial past. We shall travel through the town together, starting at the Railway station, finding out about the industrial heritage and seeing how the town looks today. We will visit(virtually) some of the main buildings, learning about the people who lived here in the past and looking at the changes made to the use of many of the original buildings in the town. We will then "travel" to Hardcastle Craggs, now a local beauty spot of woodland bisected by a river, originally an industrial landscape itself. Our walk will take us along the river towards the mill that originally used the water to power it. We will find out a little of the history of the town and the surrounding area. This visit gives you a chance to escape for an hour or so, seeing something different. All input will be welcome, and there will be time for a bit of a chat as well.
