Course overview

Do you want to continue with your English language skills? Are you looking to build on your vocabulary and practise speaking and discussing situations, this course is for you! As you progress, you will improve your confidence with intermediate level skills , where you will build on words and phrases needed to communicate with other people in everyday situations. You will practice reading, writing, speaking and listening, with a focus on conversation skills and develop new vocabulary, improve your pronunciation, and start to learn about intermediate English grammar. You will work with other learners at a similar level and be expected to take part in pair and group activities in the classroom.

Course description

In this friendly and informal class, you will improve your English conversation skills. It is aimed at intermediate level. It will improve your confidence and help you to become more independent. The tutor will help you to access learning activities in class and online and you will be able to work with others to practise your conversation skills.

After you have completed this course, you can move on to an ESOL course to work towards qualifications in English reading, writing, speaking & listening.

Please note that you’ll need an internet connection to study this English course for beginners. This is so you can access our digital learning platform, Canvas. We use Canvas for homework, and also for tasks and activities in the classroom.

You will also need a minimum of Entry 2 English to participate in this course. If you have not already had a skills assessment to check your English level we can arrange this and refer you to suitable preparation courses so that you can reach this level.

What financial support is available?

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need.

All of our digital content, teaching and learning activities and assessments are designed to be accessible so if you need any additional support you can discuss this with the education experts during your enrolment journey and we will do all we can to make sure you have optimal access.
