Take your speaking and listening skills to the next level with this ESOL course. Improving your communication skills will make you feel more confident interacting with others in the UK. ESOL entry 3 courses build on skills you learnt at entry 2. Gain confidence speaking in new and familiar situations and learn tools for effective communication. This is an English course for adults. It is aimed at speakers of other languages. ESOL classes are divided into three areas: reading, writing, and speaking & listening. If you’re helping others access ESOL courses in the UK, you’ve come to the right place.

This course is for adults who already know some basic English and want to improve their communication skills for everyday life in the UK. You will learn to understand short explanations, follow multistep instructions, ask for clarification, and take part in conversations on familiar topics. You will also practise expressing opinions and giving simple reasons in a supportive classroom environment. Entry 2 courses in Reading and Writing are also available if you want to continue developing your English skills.

Conversating with Crafting is a 12 session course designed to help adult ESOL learners build confidence in speaking and listening while enjoying a range of simple, creative craft activities. Taught over 24 guided learning hours, the course offers a fun, low pressure way for learners to return to the classroom, practise everyday English and develop practical craft skills. Each session combines conversation, creativity and wellbeing, giving learners the chance to talk about materials, techniques and ideas while working on accessible craft projects. The focus is on communication, confidence building and enjoying the social, calming benefits of creative activity.

You’ll explore the basics of governance, planning, fundraising, finance and key policies, and learn how these elements keep a group safe, credible and well run. You’ll also look at how to support volunteers, manage people fairly, and make sure everyone feels included through good equality and diversity practices. The course teaches simple communication skills, how to engage your community, and how to build useful local networks. By the end of the course, you’ll understand how to plan for the future and create community organisations that make a lasting, positive difference.

Foundations in Working in Early Years, Schools and Colleges gives you an introduction to the key principles and expectations of working in these three different education settings. You’ll explore the unique needs of young children in early years environments, including the importance of play-based learning, warm and nurturing interactions, and creating safe, inclusive spaces where children can grow and thrive. You’ll also learn about the roles, responsibilities, and professional skills needed to support teaching and learning in primary and secondary schools. This includes understanding how classrooms work, helping pupils make progress, and working together with teachers to create positive learning experiences. The course also introduces you to the structure and expectations of college settings, where learners are more independent and follow a wider range of academic and vocational pathways. You’ll develop an understanding of how support roles change to meet the needs of older learners and how you can contribute to a successful post 16 learning experience. Throughout the course, you’ll take part in practical discussions and interactive activities that help you build a clear overview of what it’s like to work in each setting. You’ll start to identify which pathway best matches your strengths and interests. This course is ideal if you’re exploring career options, returning to work, or thinking about moving into education. It also provides guidance on your next steps, including further training and possible employment opportunities.

Language for Work (Pre‑Entry) supports adults who want to develop basic English for everyday workplace communication. The course builds on early confidence and introduces simple speaking, listening, reading and writing skills needed for entry‑level work environments. Learners practise short conversations, follow simple instructions and recognise key workplace vocabulary. Activities are practical, supportive and designed to help learners understand what communication looks like in real work settings. This course prepares learners for further ESOL study and progression to Beginners Language for Work (Entry 1).

This course is funded by the East Midlands Combined County Authority and is only available to residents living within the East Midlands Combined County Authority area. Practical English Skills (Entry 2) helps learners develop more confident English for everyday communication at home, in the community and in simple work‑related situations. The course builds on Entry 1 skills and introduces longer conversations, short texts and straightforward writing tasks. Learners practise giving information, asking questions, understanding short explanations and reading everyday materials such as notes, messages, leaflets and timetables. Activities focus on real‑life situations including making arrangements, asking for help, following instructions and talking about daily routines. The course supports learners to communicate with greater independence and prepares them for progression to Entry 3 ESOL.

English for Work Readiness (Entry 3) develops the language needed for more complex everyday and work‑related communication. Learners practise taking part in discussions, understanding longer explanations, reading everyday documents and writing short paragraphs. The course builds confidence in communicating independently at home, in the community and in work‑related situations. Activities focus on real‑life tasks such as making arrangements, giving opinions, understanding procedures and writing clear messages. This course prepares learners for Level 1 ESOL course such as English for Work and Study or entry‑level employment.
