Course overview
This course is funded by the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority and is only available to residents living within the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority area.
This interactive 2-hour online taster session is designed to equip learners with the essential communication skills needed to succeed in the job market. Focusing on interview techniques and presentation skills, participants will build confidence, improve their ability to showcase their strengths, and develop practical strategies to support their progression into employment.
Through guided activities, real-world examples, and expert tips, learners will gain a better understanding of what employers are looking for and how to present themselves effectively in both interviews and professional settings.
Course description
This engaging session introduces key employability skills with a strong emphasis on making a positive first impression. Learners will explore how to prepare for interviews, answer common questions effectively, and communicate clearly and confidently.
The session will also cover the fundamentals of delivering impactful presentations, including structuring content, using body language effectively, and speaking with confidence in virtual or in-person environments.
Participants will have opportunities to practise skills, reflect on their strengths, and receive guidance on how to improve their performance.
