Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.

Course description
This course offers a captivating journey into the rich tapestry of local history, inviting participants to uncover and explore the stories, events, and individuals that have shaped their community. Through engaging lectures, interactive discussions, field trips, and hands-on research projects, students will delve into various aspects of local history, including significant events, cultural heritage, architecture, notable figures, and community development. Emphasis will be placed on developing critical thinking skills, historical research methods, and the ability to interpret primary and secondary sources. By the end of the course, participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the complexity and diversity of their local history and its relevance to broader historical narratives.
Participants will develop an understanding of the importance of local history in understanding broader historical contexts and explore key events, themes, and movements that have shaped the local community.
Learn research methods and techniques for uncovering and interpreting local historical sources and gain insight into the cultural, social, and economic development of the local area over time. You will also explore the significance of local landmarks, architecture, and heritage sites and foster critical thinking skills through the analysis and interpretation of historical sources.
