English for Learning and Life is a pre‑entry course designed to help learners build the early language, confidence and study skills needed for everyday life in the UK and for progression to the Get Ready for ESOL course. Learners develop essential skills such as recognising familiar words, understanding simple classroom language, and using basic English to communicate needs in routine situations. The course introduces simple reading and writing tasks, supports learners to build confidence in group activities and helps them develop early learning habits. It provides a supportive first step for learners who are new to English or new to learning.

This course is funded by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and is only available to residents living within the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority area. This course is designed to help you prepare for the UK driving theory test in a practical way. The course focuses on building knowledge of the Highway Code, road signs, and driving rules while developing the English vocabulary needed to understand and answer test questions. By the end of the course, you will have gained confidence, improved understanding of road safety, and developed the skills needed to progress successfully to the theory test.

This course will help you build the skills and confidence you need to take your first steps into the retail industry. You’ll learn about different types of shops, what the main job roles involve, how products are organised and how retail teams work together. Through fun, practical activities and simple retail simulations, you will practise communication, problem‑solving and basic store tasks in a supportive classroom environment. This course is perfect if you want to prepare for work, volunteering or further learning in retail.

English for Everyday Life (Entry 1) helps learners develop basic English for daily communication. The course focuses on simple speaking, listening, reading and writing skills used in familiar situations such as shopping, travel, appointments and home routines. Learners practise short conversations, understand basic instructions, read simple words and sentences, and write short phrases. Activities are practical and confidence‑building, helping learners use English in real‑life situations. This course prepares learners for further ESOL study and progression to Entry 2 ESOL level courses such as Practical English Skills.

Confidence Building is a friendly, supportive course designed to help you feel more confident in everyday life and work. You will take part in activities such as group discussions, goal setting, role play, and simple planning tasks. Step by step, you will build your confidence, share experiences, and celebrate your progress in a safe and encouraging environment. By the end of the course, you will leave with practical skills and a personal action plan to help you take your next steps.

The course focuses on building confidence, recognising familiar words, and taking part in short, supported conversations. Learners practise simple greetings, everyday phrases and basic listening tasks in a relaxed, friendly environment. Activities use pictures, real life objects and guided practice to help learners communicate in familiar situations. This course is ideal for learners who need reassurance, confidence building and a positive first step before progressing to an Entry 1 ESOL level course such as English For Everyday Life.

Develop foundational reading skills with this entry 1 English course for beginners. This English course is for speakers of other languages. It will help you learn basic English to study, work, and live in the UK. This ESOL reading course helps people who are just starting to learn English. It will help you gain confidence reading short texts and common words in English. There are also writing and speaking & listening courses at this level. If you’re helping others access ESOL classes in the UK, you’ve come to the right place.
