Course overview
Course description
Family First Aid is a practical 6‑hour course designed to help adults feel more confident dealing with everyday accidents and emergencies in the home. Delivered over three 2‑hour sessions, the course introduces simple, effective first aid actions that can make a real difference while waiting for professional help.
Learners explore how to recognise and respond to common household injuries, including cuts, grazes, burns, scalds, minor head bumps and nosebleeds. The course also covers essential skills for supporting children, such as what to do if a child is choking, how to manage fevers or sudden illness, and how to keep a calm, safe environment during stressful moments.
Through demonstrations, guided practice and supportive discussion, learners build the confidence to act quickly and safely. The course uses everyday language, practical examples and realistic scenarios to help adults understand what to do, what not to do, and when to seek further help.
By the end of the course, learners will feel more prepared to handle common first aid situations at home and more confident in keeping their family safe.
