Confidence Building is a friendly, supportive course designed to help you feel more confident in everyday life and work. You will explore self-belief, communication skills, and practical ways to manage nerves and negative thinking. The course can be tailored to your goals—whether you are returning to work, preparing for interviews, starting a small business, or wanting to improve your self-esteem. You will take part in activities such as group discussions, goal setting, role play, and simple planning tasks. Step by step, you will build your confidence, share experiences, and celebrate your progress in a safe and encouraging environment. By the end of the course, you will leave with practical skills and a personal action plan to help you take your next steps.

Practical English Skills

This course is funded by the East Midlands Combined County Authority and is only available to residents living within the East Midlands Combined County Authority area. Practical English Skills (Entry 2) helps learners develop more confident English for everyday communication at home, in the community and in simple work‑related situations. The course builds on Entry 1 skills and introduces longer conversations, short texts and straightforward writing tasks. Learners practise giving information, asking questions, understanding short explanations and reading everyday materials such as notes, messages, leaflets and timetables. Activities focus on real‑life situations including making arrangements, asking for help, following instructions and talking about daily routines. The course supports learners to communicate with greater independence and prepares them for progression to Entry 3 ESOL.

You will gain confidence in using laptops and other digital devices, keeping devices updated, and applying basic security settings. You will also learn to create and manage documents using Word, access Microsoft 365, download apps safely and set up and use email effectively. The course also covers browsers, websites, and online safety, including recognising scams and protecting passwords. Finally, you will explore secure online transactions and payment methods, ensuring you can navigate the digital world safely and independently.
