Course overview
Course description
If you’d like to start a career in retail but feel unsure where to begin, this course is a great place to start. Within this course you will learn the basics of how shops work, what different retail jobs involve, and the key skills that employers look for. No previous experience is needed, just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
Throughout the course, you’ll explore different types of retail shops, how products are organised, and how pricing and labels help customers. You’ll also learn about stock rotation, shop tasks and how retail teams support each other. Activities are practical, enjoyable and designed to build your confidence step by step.
You’ll take part in retail simulations where you’ll practise communicating clearly, following instructions and solving everyday shop‑floor problems. You’ll also learn how good retail practice helps customers and improves the running of the shop.
By the end of the course, you will understand how retail environments work, feel more confident talking to customers and colleagues, and have a stronger idea of which retail roles might suit you. This course can help you progress into further learning, volunteering or work in the retail sector.
