Course overview
Course description
This ESOL Driving Theory course is specially designed for learners whose first language is not English and who want to build the language skills and confidence needed to pass the UK driving theory test. The course provides clear, accessible explanations of the vocabulary, concepts, and rules that appear in the Highway Code and theory test materials. Learners are introduced to essential road signs, road markings, and common driving situations using simplified English and visual support to aid understanding.
Throughout the course, students practise answering multiple-choice questions similar to those in the official test, developing their comprehension of question formats and key terminology. Hazard perception skills are explored through guided discussions, videos, and scenario-based activities that help learners recognise and respond to potential dangers on the road.
In addition to improving driving knowledge, the course supports wider language development, including reading skills, listening for specific information, and building confidence in spoken English related to travel and road safety. Interactive tasks, group work, and practical examples ensure learning is engaging, supportive, and relevant to real-life driving.
By the end of the course, learners will feel more prepared, informed, and confident to sit the UK driving theory test and progress toward safe, independent driving.
