Course description

This friendly and supportive course is designed for anyone who wants to understand social media and learn how to use it safely. Whether you are completely new to social media or just want to build your confidence, this course will guide you step by step using simple language, clear examples and hands-on demonstrations.

You will start by learning what social media is and how people use it to communicate, share interests and stay connected. You will explore well-known platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and TikTok, and learn to recognise common icons and features. The course also covers important online safety topics, including how to spot fake accounts, avoid scams, and understand what information should and shouldn’t be shared.

You will take part in activities that show you how privacy settings work and how they help you stay in control of your personal information. We will also explore what good online behaviour looks like, including respectful communication and understanding your digital footprint.

By the end of this course, you will feel more confident using social media and will be able to make safer, more informed choices online. No previous experience or technical skills are needed, just a willingness to learn.
