It provides an introduction to the role of the MSW and some of the conditions which may be experienced by pregnant women and the new born baby. This is a pre-employment programme delivered online that is designed to support you into work within Adult Social Care. The programme will help you to prepare for work in a care setting. The programme consists of three elements: GMCA Care Certificate (where you will cover the theory elements of the Care Certificate), L1 Stress Awareness and L1 Mental Health Awareness (additional accredited courses you can join if suitable). Once you have completed the course with WEA, GM Careers will place you for a working interview in a social care setting. this is designed like a working interview, to give you the opportunity to try out the working environment. Week 1: Mon, Tues, Weds – 03rd – 05th June Week 2: Mon, Tues, Weds – 10th – 12th June Week 3: Mon, Tues, Weds – 17th – 19th June Week 4: Mon, Tues, Weds – 24th – 26th June Week 5: Mon, Tues, Weds – 01st – 03rd July WEA are working in partnership with GM Careers to deliver this programme. You must live in Manchester to take part in this programme. The course will cover key elements of the Care Certificate (which all social care workers must undertake), it will support you to write a CV and prepare for interviews and it also includes a work placement at the end of the training. You will meet with GM Careers throughout the course to discuss your work placement. We will be learning together as a committed team, with some fun along the way. Once you have completed all of your online training, you will then undergo your voluntary placement in a social care setting – this is designed like a working interview, to give you the opportunity to try out the working environment! This course is for students to gain more practical counselling experience in triads (counsellor, client and observer) using the ten core counselling skills. To attend this course, it is useful if you have already completed a 6 week counselling skills course or have a Level 2/3/4 counselling qualification. This course has been created in response to counselling student feedback requesting this type of course and can be useful before progressing to the next level of counselling studies, sometimes even essential as some courses do not allow you to progress to the next level if you don't have enough practical experience. The course may be appropriate for some learners with a work experience or a background in a similar sector, so do not feel excluded if you do not have formal qualifications. You should be fine! However, if you wish to make a start on our 'Introduction to Counselling; please search for that on the website. This course is in partnership with Rainbow Services. The 8-hour paediatric first aid course provides comprehensive training on the essential skills, numeracy and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider. Participants will learn the critical role they play in emergency situations involving infants and children and also how maths plays a role in that. Core topics covered include CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), including both resuscitation techniques and defibrillation procedures tailored for paediatric cases. Additionally, the course covers the management of seizures, choking incidents, wounds, bites, and stings commonly encountered in paediatric emergencies. Through hands-on practice and theoretical instruction, participants gain the confidence and skills necessary to effectively respond to paediatric medical crises and potentially save lives.
