Find out more about our next steps to support lifelong learning and how you can be a part of our exciting new venture - WEA Learn.

What is WEA Learn?

WEA Learn is the new home for our cultural and humanities courses. WEA Learn will help people who love history, art, and literature to keep learning through our courses. We believe that learning is for life, not just for work.

We have chosen to set up this programme on Eventbrite, which you can access either through the WEA website menu or by visiting our Eventbrite page.

Why WEA Learn?

At the WEA, we believe learning should be for everyone. We are committed to offering high-quality education in many subjects.

Many of our courses help learners advance in their careers and in education. However, we also believe that learning is important for all outcomes. We help learners all around the country through our Tailored Learning courses. Tailored Learning involves bringing a community together, supporting mental health, loneliness and economic inactivity. These are some of the most pressing challenges of our time.

For example, did you know that more than 4 in 5 people with pre-existing mental health conditions say that taking part in adult learning improves their wellbeing?

The government’s push towards skills for work courses such as English, maths and digital skills has been done as part of an aim to increase qualifications and skills in the UK. Unfortunately, this does mean that many of our Tailored Learning courses no longer receive government funding.

As an educational charity, we don’t simply respond to policy, we respond to people. Our most recent Impact Report shows that learning with the WEA helps to bring people together. 86% of learners surveyed by us stated that they made friends on one of our courses. To keep bringing people and communities together through learning, we have designed our new platform, WEA Learn.

Our aims for WEA Learn:

· A simple enrolment process for our learners

· Exciting new courses from current affairs to ChatGPT, alongside our classic favourites

· Separate from government funding

· Freedom to create a wide and engaging curriculum, including contemporary topics

To book on to a WEA learn course, all you need to provide is some basic contact information and then pay the course fee. There is no lengthy enrolment process, as this will all be done securely through Eventbrite. You can learn with your favourite tutors, on your favourite subjects, without any extra hassle.

You can view our range of courses on our Eventbrite profile.
