Kerry Van Der Schraft

Kerry Van Der Schraft has worked with the WEA for over twenty years, teaching art and design history alongside practical art subjects.
After completing a First Class Honours degree in Art Design and Art History, Kerry worked in industry as a designer for Wedgwood, where she had the privilege of working alongside the renowned ceramic designer Susie Cooper. She later moved to designing housewares for a manufacturing company and heading the studio as Chief Designer. She also holds a teaching qualification with the WEA.
Kerry holds a teaching qualification with the WEA and her teaching career has included working at East Surrey College on BTEC design courses, where she taught design process, drawing, painting, and visual development. She also taught art at John Ruskin College and went on to teach adults through evening classes, which marked the beginning of her long-standing work with the WEA. In addition, she has taught drawing, painting, and Spanish for ACRES and has previous experience working in schools as a teaching assistant.
She currently runs private art classes for adults and greatly enjoys teaching online through WEA Learn. Her classes are known for being friendly, engaging, and accessible, and she warmly welcomes new learners at all levels.
