James Clarke

Tutor

James Clarke is a writer and educator with a focus on cinema and literature. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Warwick and then went on to achieve his postgraduate degree at the University of Bristol. James has enjoyed a successful career in teaching, including joining the WEA as a sessional tutor in 2015 and teaching at London Film School and Falmouth University.

Alongside his teaching career, James serves a member of the Society of Authors’ Scriptwriters Committee and has worked as a Script Reader for the British Film Institute. In 2002, James was longlisted for a BAFTA nomination in the Best Short Film category. Currently, James is developing a feature film screenplay with a UK-based production company and is also writing a new book about filmmaking which will be published in 2028.

As a writer, James’s books include: Bond: Photographed by Terry O’Neill, Bodies in Heroic Motion: The Cinema of James Cameron and The Year of the Geek. He has written for outlets including Writing, Empire, The Guardian, Little White Lies, Resurgence and The Times Higher Education magazine.
