Colin Finlay

Externally Co-opted Trustee

Colin joined the Board of Trustees as an external co-opted trustee in July 2025.

Colin is a lifelong educator with over 30 years' experience dedicated to inspiring students, fostering a love of learning, and instilling in anyone who'll listen, the importance of lifelong learning. A secondary teacher for over 21 years in Scotland's local authority sector, tutoring Dyslexic learners with Dyslexia Scotland and a member of various Government advisory educational groups. He is always guided by a deep passion for student growth and equity in education. He approaches and blends academic rigour with empathy, creating learning environments where every student feels seen, valued, and empowered to succeed.

Beyond the classroom, Colin has contributed to the broader educational community through professional development, advocacy, and mentorship. He is an active trade unionist within the EIS. Colin is currently the vice convener of it's Education Committee and national finance convenor. He continues to support teachers in the workplace. Whether leading school or National initiatives or supporting educational activities. His commitment to equity and inclusion is critical.

At the heart of Colin's work is a belief that education is not just about information, but transformation, nurturing curiosity, character, and confidence in every learner. Colin, is able to create new opportunities, by learning from his past experience.
