Join us in the community gardens and polytunnel at Easington Lane Community Access Point and learn how to tend and care for a flower or vegetable garden. Our tutor will guide you through the basic steps of planting. Whether you want to support your local community by growing crops to share or learn how to grow food for your own family (on a windowsill or garden), this hands-on course is a great place to start.

If you help out in a community or voluntary role, you may need to work with food. Understanding the safe handling of food is key to preventing infections and ensuring proper hygiene. Food safety courses are useful if you do any kind of charity or voluntary work that involves handling food. Whether you help prepare lunches at a community centre or collaborate with a food bank, this knowledge can help you ensure hygiene measures are followed.

This course will help increase your knowledge or to see if this could be the right career path for you. In this course learners will find out about the range of special needs that are commonly found in an educational setting and strategies that are used to help every pupil be as happy and successful as possible.

This stress awareness course can help you recognise and deal with stress when it happens. This mental health awareness training helps you understand what you and others may be experiencing. It is also useful if you work in a support role such as mentor, counsellor, or carer. It will teach you important skills for care jobs if you want to work in adult social care.

This is a pre-employment programme delivered online that is designed to support you into work within Adult Social Care. The programme will help you to prepare for work in a care setting. The programme consists of three elements: GMCA Care Certificate (where you will cover the theory elements of the Care Certificate), L1 Stress Awareness and L1 Mental Health Awareness (additional accredited courses you can join if suitable). Once you have completed the course with WEA, GM Careers will place you for a working interview in a social care setting. this is designed like a working interview, to give you the opportunity to try out the working environment. You'll also have access to a variety of foliage and other decorative elements to personalize your wreath. Additionally, we'll provide a selection of ribbons for you to adorn your creation, adding an extra touch of elegance but feel free to bring your own as well. After completing your wreath, learn how to maintain its freshness for several weeks. Learn how to allow the materials to gently dry out, ensuring your wreath lasts beautifully throughout the summer months, becoming a cherished piece for you to enjoy.
