This course is funded by the Department for Education and only open to residents living in non devolved authorities. This course explores practical, evidence based ways to help keep children healthy, using current UK guidance on child wellbeing. You’ll look at balanced eating, healthier food swaps, and simple, affordable meal ideas inspired by NHS Healthier Families resources. You’ll also learn about children’s activity needs, with fun and easy ways to encourage movement at home, based on Health for Kids activities. The course covers other key areas of child health too, including sleep routines, hygiene, safety, emotional wellbeing, and knowing when to seek trusted health advice, using the Healthy Child Programme as a guide. The focus throughout is on realistic, everyday steps you can take to support children’s long term health and wellbeing.

This course is funded by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and is only available to residents living within the Greater Manchester Combined Authority area. Build on basic reading skills with these ESOL classes. This is an English course for beginners. It is aimed at speakers of other languages. ESOL courses help you learn basic English for life in the UK and improve your chances of finding work or study options. This ESOL entry 2 reading course builds on skills you learnt at entry 1. Grow your vocabulary and improve your reading skills in English. There are also writing and speaking & listening courses at this level. It is suitable if you are new to job‑seeking, returning to work, or want to improve your confidence with applications. During the session, you will learn what a CV is for and what employers look for. You will be guided to create a simple CV or improve one you already have, using your skills, experience, and interests. Support is available at every stage, and activities are broken down into clear, manageable steps. You will also try basic job‑search tasks, such as looking at job adverts and identifying what skills employers want. You will have the chance to practise answering simple interview questions, helping you feel more confident talking about yourself in a positive way. By the end of the course, you will leave with a clearer CV, increased confidence, and practical knowledge to help you move closer to employment or further training.

You will gain confidence in using laptops and other digital devices, keeping devices updated, and applying basic security settings. You will also learn to create and manage documents using Word, access Microsoft 365, download apps safely and set up and use email effectively. The course also covers browsers, websites, and online safety, including recognising scams and protecting passwords. Finally, you will explore secure online transactions and payment methods, ensuring you can navigate the digital world safely and independently.
