Art Appreciation: Introduction to Early Renaissance Painting

This course is an introduction to ways of viewing paintings made in Europe in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The course that uses a selected number of paintings to provide a basis for the beginnings of an appreciation and understanding of some of the seminal ideas in aesthetics and philosophy of the period. Art Appreciation: Egyptian Treasures of the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (In-Person Gallery Tour)

This course is an in-person gallery tour exploring the ancient Egyptian collection of the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. In 2 hours we will tour both famous pieces including the Scorpion Macehead and Taharqa Shrine, alongside many lesser known gems of the Egyptian collection.
