Course overview
Course description
The Functional Skills Maths Entry Level 3 course helps learners develop practical numeracy skills that can be used confidently in everyday life, the workplace, and further learning. Building on knowledge from Entry Level 1 and Entry Level 2, the course strengthens learners’ ability to use maths to solve problems, make decisions, and interpret information in familiar situations.
Learners will develop skills in working with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages. They will also practise measuring, handling money, managing time, and interpreting simple tables, charts, and diagrams. These skills are explored through practical activities such as budgeting, shopping calculations, reading timetables, and understanding everyday numerical information.
Before the start of the course, learners complete a BKSB initial assessment to identify if the course is suitable for them and they also complete a Diagnostic assessment once on the course to identify the skills gaps and any weak areas that require focus and additional support. This information is used to create an Individual Learning Plan that helps guide learning and track progress throughout the course.
At the end of the course, you will take a final exam to complete the qualification. Courses are delivered face to face. In cases where online delivery is required to meet contractual arrangements, the final assessment will still take place in person. Learners will also have their digital skills checked during enrolment to ensure they can access learning where necessary.
