Introduction to Support Work In Schools (online)

This course is funded by the Greater London Combined Authority and is only available to residents living within the Greater London Combined Authority area. This course requires you to take a BKSB test to ensure you are at a high Entry 3 or Level 1/2 before you are fully enrolled. You must also complete a 3 hour Confidence to Learn course immediately before you start this course. On this Introduction to Working in Schools and Colleges (24 hours) you will be introduced to the key roles, the responsibilities, and expectations, of those working and supporting in learning environments such as schools and colleges. This course an ideal starting point for anyone considering furthering a career in this sector. The course covers essential topics such as the sequence and rate of development in children and young people, health and safety awareness, safeguarding, and the effective communication required to manage children and young people’s behaviour. This course will give learners the opportunity to consider whether working in schools or colleges is the right career path for them. Designed for adults from all backgrounds, including those returning to work, exploring a new career, or considering further training, learners will leave with a clearer understanding of the education sector and the steps they can take to progress into support staff roles. After this course you can go on to do Support Work In Schools Level 2 if you have already achieved or go on to achieve a Level 2 on the BKSB test.
