Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.
Course overview
Course description
Engage in hands-on projects and receive personalized guidance. Join a friendly community of learners to improve skills, exchange ideas, and showcase your creations. Explore options for selling your work for fundraising or profit, including costing, marketing and obtaining supplies.
The tutor will provide basic materials and the tools you need to get started in the class but you will need to purchase your own in order to progress, develop and practice at home.
Instructions and other resources are available throughout the course on Canvas, the WEA digital resource, which you will also use to track your progress. The tutor will give constructive feedback on your work which will support you to improve and progress throughout the course.
At the end of the course the group will create a group display, showcasing presentation, marketing, packaging and pricing.
The course takes place over 11 weeks with breaks in school holidays and learners should ensure that they will be available to complete the whole course.
After the course you may progress to a further course with the WEA.
