Course overview
Course description
Learn how to create a beautiful keepsake journal, based around food. Guided by your tutor, you will cover the essential practical skills to help you set up your journal, such as how to layout pages and use your phone as a digital tool to aid your vocabulary and inspire ideas.
As a group we’ll research and discuss the origin of recipes; local foods and our memories of the foods we grew up with – our favourites and our not-so-favourites! You’ll learn practical writing skills to improve spelling and grammar, as well as experiencing a meditative process to support your creative writing technique. This is an English class for adults and the aim is to inspire, help and support you to enjoy your journey and the learning process. Journaling offers the opportunity for you to fit your writing around your own life circumstances, whether that’s a couple of minutes grabbed between childcare, or a satisfying way to fill several hours with creativity – once you get started that’s up to you.
At the end of the course, you will have a journal which you can continue to develop using the tips and tools you have learned. You can progress to a creative writing course or accredited English course. You tutor can advise you on suitable options if you are not sure which is the right option for you. Whether you want to find a new hobby or improve your English skills to aid you in the workplace this course can help you to get started on that journey.
