Course overview
Course description
Alongside the drumming, find out a little about the rich history of the instrument and its place in African culture, as well as its influence on global music. Our tutor is a mine of information and will introduce you to the instrument and its roots. The practice of African drumming is also known to reduce stress and promote wellbeing, so it is a wonderful way to leave behind the stresses of the day!
Drums will be supplied by the tutor. No musical knowledge is required, just the enthusiasm to have a go!
African Drumming courses are available at a local venue should you wish to continue learning to further your skills and knowledge of the instrument.
Join us for this fun workshop which is part of Learning at Work Week. Learning at Work Week is a unique annual event. It’s led nationally by Campaign for Learning and locally WEA, UNISON and Sunderland City Council have got together to provide a range of workshops for you to enjoy. The 2024 theme is ‘Learning Power’: ‘Learning is the ultimate tool, providing the opportunity and means to change and enrich our lives through understanding, knowledge and skills, and see the world in a different way.’
