Level 1 ESOL: Get Ready for ESOL Level 1 Reading

What we’ll cover

• Understand how to get the most important information out of different types of texts.

• Use context to understand unfamiliar words.

• Understand how formatting features such as headings and paragraphs can help you find important information in a text.

• Identify the purpose of a text.

• Use reference materials to find key information.

This is a preparation course for the ESOL level 1 reading qualification. It is not an accredited course.

You need previous reading skills to take this course, that’s why you’ll need to do a skills check to enrol. Don’t worry, this isn’t an exam. It’s for us to make sure you get on the right course for your level.

When you complete this introductory course, you will be ready to take the ESOL skills for life level 1 reading course.

There are “get ready” courses between each module to prepare you for the next course.

What to expect

This get ready for ESOL course takes around 40 hours to complete. It gives you more opportunities to learn the reading skills required for a level 1 reading qualification.
