Polish your writing skills in English. This ESOL level 2 course teaches you advanced knowledge to help you write and analyse a variety of texts in English. Improved writing skills can open doors to work and study options in the UK. This ESOL course builds on skills you learnt at level 1. Perfect your writing skills in English while practising critical thinking. This is an English course for adults. It is aimed at speakers of other languages. ESOL courses are divided into three areas: reading, writing, and speaking & listening. If you’re helping others access ESOL classes in the UK, you’ve come to the right place.

Course description

What we’ll cover

  • Understand how to combine writing elements and features to produce texts with a specific purpose (to inform, entertain, persuade etc.)

  • Recognise the appropriate level of detail required in different writing situations.

  • Understand how to present information in a logical sequence, using paragraphs and layout to help you.

  • Have a clear understanding of how to use punctuation in your writing.

  • Develop a high level of accuracy using compound tenses and complex grammar.

This ESOL level 2 course focuses on how to improve writing skills in English. It is for adults.

You need prior writing skills to take this course, that’s why you’ll do a skills check to enrol. Don’t worry, this isn’t an exam. It’s for us to make sure you get on the right course for you.

When you complete this module, you can continue with other ESOL skills for life level 2 courses. This is the highest level ESOL qualification we offer. There are also reading and speaking and listening courses.

There are “Get Ready” courses between each module to prepare you for the next course.

What to expect

This ESOL level 2 writing course takes around 110 hours to complete.

Please note that you’ll need an internet connection to study this English course. This is so you can access our digital learning platform, Canvas.
