Learn to feel better: adult education and social prescribing

At the WEA, we have a long history of working with adults who are dealing with life’s challenges.

We recognise that adult education can be a great option when looking at social prescribing routes, as it helps people make positive life choices.

Social Prescribing is part of our offer because it helps improve health and wellbeing.

Our research demonstrates that following a WEA course:

  • 87% of our learners made at least one fewer visits to their GP compared to the national average
  • 61% said it improved their mental health conditions
  • 94% of our students said their course helps them keep their mind active

We work with social prescribing Link Workers to provide support to patients referred from their GP or health care professional, community connectors, health providers and voluntary and community sector organisation to provide non-clinical support to adults within the community.

Our social prescribing package consists of a choice of offers designed to protect and enhance wellbeing. They range from mental health, physical well-being to digital skills and safety.
