The Cornwall Branch are planning a series of events at the WEA office in Lemon Street, Truro,during the autumn term:

Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake, whilst finding out about WEA courses in your area and other opportunities to volunteer and get involved with WEA activities.

There will also be the opportunity to join in with a regular book swap/sale – So bring your old books and exchange for  something new to read!

Sounds and Sweet Airs – What can music express with John Hurst 

Thursday 14th September – 7.00pm – 9.00pm    

Joni Mitchell’s famous song ‘Both Sides Now’ asks a series of questions and responds with a series of doubts.  In this brief presentation we will look at musical representations of Joni’s questions – about clouds, about love, about life itself – in a sequence of musical extracts.                                                                         

Fairy Tales – The Grimm truth with Douglas Bence

Thursday 12th October – 7.00pm – 9.00pm

Fascinated by fairy tales. This taster explores the secrets behind fairy tales;  who wrote them and why? We will discuss how these stories helped societies make sense of the world in which they live and how making stories suitable for a modern audience can distort or lose the    original meaning, such as Disney representation of Grimm tales.
