Do you have a passion for the WEA and adult education? Do you live in the North West area and have taken part in and enjoyed courses with us or have past experience from your work life?

Why don’t you think about becoming a WEA volunteer and join the North West Regional Committee as Treasurer?

The WEA relies on its volunteers to help make sure we can provide a wide range of relevant and good value courses for our students. The WEA is unique in that students take an active part in shaping our work, so we are looking for enthusiastic people like you to help oversee the WEA’s finances in the North West Region.

Meeting face to face 3-4 times a year* with occasional additional teleconferences and an Annual General Meeting, you will be involved in:-

•    Liaising with the Head of Region, other relevant staff and Regional Committee members to support the region’s financial viability and strategic direction
•    Reporting on financial matters to regional committee meetings, annual general meeting and other regional meetings, and representing the region at national regional treasurers meetings
•    Supporting the preparation and presentation of budgets and financial reports
•    Supporting branch treasurers with advice on branch financial procedures

Experience of financial planning and confidence scrutinising financial reports and explaining them to others would be useful.

Time commitment – will vary from month to month and will be discussed with anyone interested.

Interested? - please contact  Joan Isaacs at jisaacs@wea.org.uk

*There will be reports and paperwork you will need to read for each meeting and these are normally circulated by email

Please also note that a basic DBS check will be required.
