I got much of my education through the WEA.  And after going to university as a mature student via Ruskin College, I worked in adult education for the Co-operative and trade union movements, as well as for the Open University and most North Eastern universities.  My other jobs included helping to set up and later managing an Open College Network that validated the achievements of adult learners.  I was the Regional Director of the WEA in the North East for several years, and currently chair the board of the Co-operative College that develops co-operative education throughout the UK and globally.  My other passions are saving the planet, so I’m deeply involved with the WEA NE Green Branch and Greening Wingrove, and saving our history, leading me into researching and writing People’s History, mostly about our region.  The national WEA made me their first ‘Ambassador’. I try my best!
