I have worked for WEA for 14 years. I am a (level 5) specialist literacy practitioner and a core member of staff. I also teach maths and Independent living skills and I have a first class BA (honours) degree in education. I am a fully qualified Dyslexia screening practitioner.

I am a research fellow with Newcastle and Sunderland Universities and work in collaboration with them for WEA. Most recently my work with Newcastle university has resulted in the development and publication of an educational toolkit (Self Advocacy SOLE Toolkit). This has raised the profile of WEA in wider educational circles and has been extremely well received nationally. I have been asked to facilitate workshops at WEA North West AGM based on this work.

The other parts of my role are, Dyslexia screening, an observer of teaching and learning, lead tutor in Communities of Practice, IQA for our City and Guilds qualifications and moderator of student achievement in functional skills classes. I also work closely with course organisers in developing partnerships and leading tutor on projects such as 'Sport Counts' with NIACE

Members may be interested to know that I completed the GNR this year, (in1 hour 52) representing WEA and raising funds (and our profile).
