WEA Art Exhibition in Greater Manchester

WEA tutor Penny Soultani curated and organised an art event

The 10th Annual WEA Student Art Exhibition was recently held over two days on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd June at St James the Apostle Church in Ashton under Lyne in Tameside Greater Manchester.

The event was curated and organised by WEA tutor Penny Soultani, who utilised artwork from three of her classes in the region – Denton Methodist Church, Prestwich Creative Living Centre and St James the Apostle – to showcase a wide variety of excellent work by our very talented WEA students.

The event was very popular with both the general public and students, with over 130 pieces of individual art displayed across a range of media including acrylic, ink, pastel, pencil and watercolour.

A number of the works displayed were on sale and some of the artists had kindly donated the income from these to the church funds.

Refreshments and hot lunches were on sale and these were kindly provided by the members of St James’ Church and further thanks go to the Rev. Roger Farnworth, Team Rector at the Parish of the Good Shepherd in Ashton under Lyne, for his friendship and support working as a partner with the WEA.
