May is National Walking Month
Walking is a great way to keep active. It is simple, free and easy to squeeze into your day. This May, why not take to your feet for National Walking Month? You don’t need to walk for hours to feel the benefit: simple changes like taking the stairs instead of a lift, or walking to the next bus stop all help to add more steps to your day.
And if for whatever reason you can’t take to your feet, get active however you can, and feel the benefits of gentle movement this May.
Gentle exercise is a great way to:
• Reduce tiredness
• Improve a bad mood
• Reduce anxiety
• Strengthen your muscles, joints and bones
• Look after your heart
Across England and Scotland the WEA have a wide range of Health and Wellbeing courses that support you to achieve your goals. We have chair based exercises, walking groups, yoga and meditations as well as a variety of non-competitive sports and fitness classes.
