We’re all adults here

This is Lisa’s story.

Lisa left school and home at 16, pregnant, unexpected – “It was a very isolating point of my life. I wouldn’t have known education was available to me. It was only by chance I met WEA tutor Emma… it changed my life - accessible classes, a safe environment and new friends”. Lisa tells us how by holding classes in places that were accessible to her made a huge difference to whether she made the decision to go or not.

I’d been out of education for a long time so it was a big step to take that first step back in to the classroom. It was frightening and nervous time. All I remembered was the teacher relationship at school that I didn’t like but I immediately felt comfortable here. By the time I finished the course I was happy to put my hand up because my confidence had grown so much.
