The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a EU law designed to protect the privacy of all individuals with the European Union and the European Economic Area. It came into force on 25 May 2018.
In the course of its activities the WEA uses, creates and stores information (data) which will be derived from many sources. Ensuring this asset is processed and secured appropriately is both a legal responsibility and a task critical to the organisation’s ability to operate. A failure to protect and use this asset appropriately could result in significant damage to the WEA’s reputation , and/or very significant financial loss.
We have prepared a GDPR for Volunteers document, which we urge you to read thoroughly. It includes a list of 15 things you can do to help us comply with the GDPR and useful contacts if you need further information.
