The European Social Fund (ESF)
A new programme to tackle unemployment has been launched in April 2019 from the European Social Fund.
Over the next two years, adult education charity, The WEA will help thousands of people who face additional barriers in the workplace, such as lone parents, improve their employability and gain permanent employment.
The WEA will distribute grants of £20,000 to eligible organisations in the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector.
What is the ESF?
Each year the European Social Fund helps millions of Europeans improve their lives by learning new skills and finding better jobs.
Funds have been granted by the government’s Education and Skills Funding Agency in partnership with Local Enterprise Partnerships to the WEA to provide training and learning opportunities for people at risk of exclusion.
