We are a small team which organises upwards of 2500 hours of courses each academic year.
Our area is a mix of urban and rural communities and our programme reflects the wide and varied needs and interests within these. You will find opportunities to develop or improve your skills in a range of practical subjects including art, pottery and textile courses or the chance for you to deepen your knowledge and understanding in a variety of historical topics, Art and Music. So whether you want to meet new people, keep your mind active or learn new skills and subjects there will be a course for you.
Living in a rural area can bring its’ own challenges when looking and securing employment, to support in this area we offer courses to increase your confidence and support your mental wellbeing at the same time as opportunities for developing the skills needed to be successful in gaining employment or increasing your aspirations.
We, also, offer schools and parenting courses which cover practical parenting solutions through to gaining the skills necessary to begin work in Early Years or Schools.
All of this is offered in community venues across the counties so use the course search to see what is happening near where you live.
Supporting the core team to offer these opportunities are the WEA Branches. These are groups of volunteers who come together to form a local committee and identify and plan courses to support the interests of their community. Our branches operate across both counties so if you would like to volunteer or would like to discuss forming a branch in your locality please get in touch.
