Over 5 hours in one weekend, you’ll set a daily achievable goal, refresh an element of story craft through the tutor’s stimulating exercises and extracts from published texts and write! We’ll immerse ourselves in short and longer writing exercises and get feedback from the tutor and peers when you share in pairs. Underneath the streets of Great Grimsby there lie three destroyed churches, several thousand medieval corpses, the remains of two cloisters, and a buried medieval port, complete with wharves, 'mud docks', crane bases, back-filled cellars and warehouse foundations. Could St Marys church, closed in 1586, have been founded in the Anglo- Scandinavian period and perhaps give some indication of 10th century settlement at around the time of the legendary Grim? The course will look at the development of human settlement around salty inlets and muddy creeks and on the higher and drier promontory where the town developed.

This is a pre-entry ESOL course, this course will give you some skills to communicate some basic ideas in English. Through a range of activities, you will develop skills to help you improve your all your four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing, with a focus on speaking and listening activities.

This course will deliver that there is an acceptance that anyone can make changes in their life to enjoy an environmentally friendly and healthier lifestyle whilst protecting the planet. This course views painting produced in the twentieth century. The course will include developments of figurative and abstract painting. There will be views of artists already prominent in the early twentieth century and artists who set out after 1945 from a wide range of attentions. From those born in the nineteenth century to those born in the 1960s. The course will attend to direct visual experience of reproduction of the works involved linked to elements of comprehension and understanding through a considerable range of exciting encounters and engagements. There are no requirements from students prior the beginning of the course. Students would benefit from access to online sources during the course. Papers and images will be made available to students through the WEA Canvas site. You will need to have access to the internet to access the papers for this course. The course uses a secure digital learning portal for all the classes and for communications with the tutor and access to learning materials.

By the end of the course, the participant will have an understanding of the meanings of basic environmental terms; have a rudimentary awareness of the importance and benefits of sustainable development; have a straightforward understanding of Environmental Management Systems and how they work, have sufficient knowledge to identify and understand issues with pollution and waste; be aware of Environmental Emergency Procedures and be able to individually reduce their impact on the environment as best they can.
