If you’d like to learn universal work skills that can help you in a variety of paid or voluntary roles, community volunteering qualifications are your best bet. Research volunteer opportunities that can bring you gratification and teach you important skills. Get a peek into the voluntary work sector and understand which roles could suit you. This course is appropriate if you want to start voluntary work or already form part of a voluntary organisation. It can also help the long-term unemployed or those returning to work after a long break.

Course description

Community volunteering qualifications prepare you to take up a role in a voluntary organisation. Study how voluntary organisations work and which steps to take to become a volunteer. Learn universal employability skills which are useful in many roles. Gain broad work skills for your CV and improve your employability prospects.

Your tutor will set different tasks for your portfolio. These could include presentations, posters, leaflets, or worksheets.

This course usually takes around 40 hours to complete. The aim is to prepare learners to take up volunteering roles. The WEA is a supportive learning environment. Your tutor will guide you through your learning and help you choose the right next steps for you after this course.

To take this course you’ll need to have access to the internet. You’ll communicate with your tutor and access learning materials through Canvas, the WEA’s digital learning portal. You’ll also have video calls with your tutor and classmates.

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.
