Course overview

This course is all about being a pedestrian in the world today. It is a comprehensive course designed to instil crucial safety habits in learners. This engaging program focuses on developing learners' awareness of responsible behaviour on roads, paths and other areas of the city or town. Students will learn about pedestrian safety, the importance of using crossings safely and correctly, and the basics of traffic rules and regulations. Our goal is to empower learners with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate roads confidently and safely, fostering a lifelong commitment to responsible road behaviour. This course will also help develop essential skills such as maths and English.

Course description

This course is a beginner's introduction into the world of road safety and awareness. It is designed to allow learners to develop knowledge and skills for travelling in and around the city or town, and to support building confidence in travelling independently and safely. The areas of study will include -

- Different pedestrian crossings, how they work and how to use them safely

- Crossing roads without crossings, where and how

- Assessing and identifying other hazards when travelling

- Traffic Signs and Symbols. What are they and what do they mean?

- Stranger Danger. How to stay safe on the streets

- Visibility. How to be seen and be safe

- Public Transport. How to stay safe when using the bus and train

- Emergency Situations. What to do and who to call

Learners will be supported with individual learning outcomes and encouraged to produce quality work which will show they have understood the topic. Various teaching and learning methods will be used to ensure that all learners are able to achieve their learning outcomes and show evidence of learning and developing. There may also be a practical element of the course depending on the conditions at the time of lessons which will allow learners to go out and experience the things they have been learning.

Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.
