Have you relocated to the UK recently and are struggling to settle down? Living in a new culture can be a positive, stimulating experience. It can also be very challenging. This is a course for people who want to know more about British culture, NHS, schools and education, legal aid, system of entitlements and benefits. On this course you will learn about what to expect and how to settle into life in the UK and look for work. This course is for South Tyneside ESOL residents only and free for any learners registered with CREST.

Course description

This course is for South Tyneside ESOL residents only and free for any learner registered with CREST. The course will support adults on their journey to learn skills which help them progress both in work and life. We will look at some tips for integrating within UK culture. On this course you will also learn more about entitlements and benefits. You will receive information and advice on claiming benefits and entitlements including housing benefit, working and child tax credits, job seeker's allowance (JSA), income support, access to NHS and legal aid, etc. Every class is fully tutored and guided, you will work in groups and pairs and share your experience and knowledge with your classmates in a friendly environment. The tutor will support and encourage you to explore dimensions of the British society and integration policies in the country.

Alongside the potential economic benefits, the course is intended to reduce loneliness and make people happier, healthier, more confident, capable and more resilient. If you are not registered with CREST, please do this before the start of the course.

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.
