The course is for learners who either have some experience of driving in the UK or abroad or are interested in learning to drive in the UK but have limited experience.
Do you have an overseas driving licence? Are you preparing to take the driving theory test? Or interested in starting to learn to drive in the UK? This course is for you if you have some experience of driving in the UK or abroad. You are equally welcome to join if you want to learn more about preparing to drive in the UK if you have limited driving experience.
Our course is friendly and a safe environment to ask questions. You will help each other to practice through informal activities and discussions, helping you to develop your understanding.
In many parts of the UK a driving license and access to a car can give you more options for jobs, your family’s education and many leisure activities. If English is not your first language then this course will introduce you to some of the important skills and knowledge to improve your confidence with the English language, pass your driving theory test and understand the UK road system and rules.
We will introduce the rules and regulations of driving and the Highway Code. You will learn about the different parts of a car and their uses. We’ll also look at how to book your driving theory test and what to expect. You will also complete a mock test to assess your progress.
You will need access to a laptop, or smartphone, and the internet to access the weekly online group learning sessions.
You will also need a minimum of Entry 2 or 3 English to participate in this course. If you have not already had a skills assessment to check your English level we can arrange this and refer you to suitable preparation courses so that you can reach this level.
